So Christmas is lurking around the corner and this is a confusing time where I start to organise and wrap my presents that I have been making through the year and start making plans for 2018! I enjoy making gifts for others and this is a great time to revisit projects. I probably had the most fun making my Festive Fowl (they aren’t a gift, but something I wanted to make for my home). I used the Fancy Hen pattern and the lovely Dovestone DK in Wesley Bob and Yorkstone. I love this pattern!
I set a dangerous precedent when I gifted my sister and niece with some socks a couple of years ago, so I have made a few pairs of socks for gifts. Patterns I have used include: Incantation Socks, Prairie Socks and Vintage Fairy Lights.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas if I didn’t make a couple of shawls. This year’s shawl pattern (I discovered it in January and have lost count of how many I have made this year!) is the FFFS, also known as the Fuss Free Festival Shawl. It is amazing! It’s easy, looks effective and you can get a wonderful project out of just one skein of 4 ply. Just perfect for gift giving. Another pattern I used was Hundred Acre Wood (pictured below in Titus) . I have knitted a lot of patterns by Curious Handmade this year and I love them. This was another one that I discovered at the beginning of the new year. It comes in a couple of versions, but the mini shawl is a great knit for a special gift and is a one skein wonder!!
Once all the gifts are wrapped, I start planning my Christmas cast on project and other projects for the new year. This Christmas I will be casting on some lovely Juniper socks in DK yarn in an attempt to bust my overgrowing stash!! I will also be casting on a shawl in some new yarn that we are going to launch for Spring/ Summer. I love doing my new season knit (it has become a tradition for me!). I am deciding between the Surprise Party Shawl by Curious Handmade or the Lang Ayre by Gudrun Johnston....decisions, decisions!
