In the world of craft, crochet can sometimes feel like the poor relation to knitting - but not at baa ram ewe! We want crocheters to feel just as loved as everyone else, and we've been working on a few projects recently to make sure that's the case.

We hold regular workshops here in our Leeds shop, and our crochet tutor Melanie Boocock designed a fabulous shawl. Jane has made it up (pictured above) in Dovestone dk, using Bramley Baths, Aire and Endeavour, and I think it's gorgeous. Melanie is happy to share the pattern so if you're interested in making your own, just get in touch.

Meanwhile, we've included crochet projects in many of our collections and we know they're always a big hit. From the simple yet stylish Yorkshire Day Corsage to the May Cowl and Caroline Ruffle Scarf, there are plenty of ways you can accessorise your outfit with a beautiful crochet project - and all of these look beautiful in any shades ofTitus. You could also try your hand at home accessories with the Uppermill Blanket, from ourLandmark Collection, using Dovestone dk.

September Wrap.jpg One of our perennial favourites is the September Wrap, which I've been giving a new twist. I've made it larger and love the results. I've used Titus in Goathland and a leftover hank of a previous limited edition yarn, Titus Goddess Shades of Bramley Baths. Although this isn't available any more, there are still a few hanks of Shades of Viking available - click here. It would also look stunning with Titus Bantam - or why not check your stash and choose your own colour combination? Watch this space for more Titus Goddess shade announcements over the next few months, too!

Some of the most popular items in our crochet range are the Toft's books and kits. Get creative with some unusual creatures in Edward's Imaginarium, familiar animals in Edward's Menagerie, and feathered friends in Edward's Bird Menagerie. you can also buy full kits of Flamingo and Emma the Bunny, including everything you need to complete your project, from needles to toy stuffing.
If you're looking for a collection of patterns to keep your crochet fingers occupied for a while, we have some lovely options in stock. Try King Cole Crochet Book 1 for some really stylish jumpers, cardigans and accessories, and get the babies in your life looking just as cute with King Cole Baby Crochet Book 1. Alternatively, become a domestic god or goddess with Sarah Hatton's 10 Simple Crochet Projects for Cosy Homes, which is perfect for beginners.
Don't forget our Make-A-Long (MAL) is still running as we prepare to celebrate five years of Titus this summer. It's open to all crafters, and we're encouraging everyone to get involved by making a shawl of their own and sharing their progress with us on our official MAL Ravelry Page.

We already have crocheters joining in with their own shawl patterns, and more are joining all the time.

Finally, if you're a knitter, but all this talk of crochet has made you wonder whether you ought to be in on the act, we have good news: there are a few places available on our upcoming How to Crochet workshop with Melanie Boocock on Saturday 10th June in the workshop room at our shop in Leeds. Book early to avoid disappointment - or look further ahead and bag your place for the next date, Saturday 20th August. Click here for details of all our upcoming workshops.

We received some absolutely fantastic entries for the baa ram ewe Dachs-Off competition last month. We invited you to be creative and make our famous Dashing Dachshund in a new colourway, using whichever shades of Titus you wanted. The results were stunning!

There could only be one winner, so after much deliberation we chose Yvonne Kenney's adorable blue friend (above). She will receive a baa ram ewe hamper of yarn, books, toiletries and a knitting kit.

Our two runners-up each receive a copy of Dovestone Smallholding. They are Hannah Jones who created Meeko, inspired by Pocahontas's raccoon buddy, and Anne-Marie Kissoon for Shnitzel von Krum (with a very low tum!).

Meanwhile, our Dashing Dachshund is undergoing his official make-over and we'll be sharing the results soon!

We're excited to say we'll be attending Leeds Wool Festival, taking place this weekend at the Leeds Industrial Museum at Armley Mills.
There will be demonstrations of spinning, felting and other techniques, as well as workshops and performances throughout the day. There will also be a pop-up cafe from the WI so you can enjoy afternoon tea too.

We'll be taking some of our favourite items to the event to share with visitors, including from our Spring-Summer 2017 range, so you'll have plenty of chance to pick up your next project and chat about it with us too!

Click here for details about the event, and click here to buy your Early Bird tickets for just £3 each. Tickets will be available on the door for the usual museum admission price of £3.80. Click here for directions.
